Firmware Test Suite (FWTS) is a test suite that performs sanity checks on firmware. It is intended to identify BIOS and ACPI errors and if appropriate it will try to explain the errors and give advice to help workaround or fix firmware bugs. libfdt (dtc) is an optional dependency as fwts checks for it during configure, but will only disable a few tests (dt_base, dt_sysinfo) if it is not available. This has been build-tested in x86, x86_64 and aarch64 and run-tested in x86_64 and aarch64 with EFI firmware. This package has been limited to x86, x86_64 and aarch64 architectures as it fails to build with linking errors related to ACPI functions when building for other architectures. As it is less likely that this will be used for the other architectures, they are disabled for now. Buildroot is a simple, efficient and easy-to-use tool to generate embedded Linux systems through cross-compilation. The documentation can be found in docs/manual. You can generate a text document with 'make manual-text' and read output/docs/manual/manual.text. Online documentation can be found at http://buildroot.org/docs.html To build and use the buildroot stuff, do the following: 1) run 'make menuconfig' 2) select the target architecture and the packages you wish to compile 3) run 'make' 4) wait while it compiles 5) find the kernel, bootloader, root filesystem, etc. in output/images You do not need to be root to build or run buildroot. Have fun! Buildroot comes with a basic configuration for a number of boards. Run 'make list-defconfigs' to view the list of provided configurations.
